Joe's Gourmet Meats is a deli in Lindenhurst and in my opinion among many others is the best I have ever been to. Everything I have ever purchased from them has been extremely delicious. All of the food is homemade and is always fresh. Whether your looking for a lunch meal or full a full dinner meal, Joe's Gourmet Meats is the place to go. The menu offers a variety of different foods such as heroes, sandwiches, wraps, chicken, sausage, homemade sauces, pasta, to even fresh pizza pies. They also have a great butcher and can offer lots of different types of meats. Give them a try. You will definitely not be disappointed. --DV--

Jalapeno Poppers

Recently I have been craving jalapeno poppers so I figured it was time to dig out the deep fryer and make some.  They are very easy to make, just time consuming.  First you take you jalapeno peppers and cut them in half long way.  Wash them and take out all the seeds then set them aside.  In a separate bowl, mix about 12 ounces of cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, and bacon bits.  Take a spoon and fill all the halved jalapeno peppers with the cream cheese mix.  Next take two bowls, one with flour, and one with bread crumbs.  Dip the peppers in the flour first, then the bread crumbs.  After you have your peppers stuffed and breaded, place them (carefully, the oil may splatter) into the deep fryer on 365 degrees Fahrenheit.  Wait about 2 to 3 minutes or until they turn golden brown.  Take them out, let them cool, then enjoy!

Domino's Parmesan Bread Bites

My boyfriend and I ordered Domino's today because of our laziness and desire to watch Doctor Who (yes we're nerdy). We discoered that their new Parmesan Bread Bites are delicious!
I seriously stole the whole bag from him and let him eat the pizza.
These are cheesy, tasty goodness. Everyone has to try these. They have coupons for them along with a soda on the Domino's website.
Please eat these. YUM.

Lays Classic BLT

The other day i was aimlessly walking around Walmart when something caught my eye.  Lays came out with a new flavor potato chips called Classic BLT.  I was skeptical to how they would taste, but being a huge fan of bacon, I knew i had to try them.  When i opened the bag, I got a whiff of what smelt like bacon bits.  I tried them and was very happy with the results.  It tasted like bacon bits with a hint of mayo.  It made me want to throw a bunch of them on a sandwich and call it my lunch.  After i finished the bag, I immediately went back for more.  If you are a fan of bacon like I am, then you should definitely give them a try.

Sauteed Perogies

Last night for dinner I was hungry so i decided to cook myself some perogies. I had a box of Mrs. T's potato and cheddar perogies. First what I did was sauteed chopped onions in olive oil and butter. I then removed the onion once they were almost finished and added in the perogies. I cooked them on medium and a few minutes before the perogies were done I added in the onions once again and also added chopped garlic. Once the perogies were golden brown I removed them, the onion and garlic. I served them with a side of sour cream. If you like perogies you should definitely try cooking them this way.

Oreo Cheesecake

For Easter my aunt made Oreo cheesecake. I usually am not a huge cheesecake fan but I really enjoyed the Oreo cheesecake. At the end of the day before I left her house I asked her for the recipe she used to make it. The ingredients consisted of:

  •  1 package of Oreos
  • 1/3 cup of butter or margarine
  • 3 packages of softened cream cheese
  • 3/4  cup of sugar
  • 1 cup of sour cream
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 4 eggs

The first step is to preheat the oven to 350°F. Then what you need to do is crush 28 cookies. Them chop the rest of the remaining cookies separately. Take the crushed cookies and mix them with the melted butter. Take a 9-inch springform pan and spread the cookie/butter mix on the bottom and sides. The next step is to beat the sugar and cream cheese in a large bowl until blended. While continuing to mix slowly add one egg in at a time until blended. Stir in chopped cookies and pour mix into the crust. The last step is to bake for 55 minutes to an hour. Remove and cool for about 4 hours in the refrigerator. Enjoy!

Ice Cream Cookie Bowls

I am a huge fan of chocolate chip cookies.  But if I had to chose one thing over having a chocolate chip cookie, it would be a bowl of ice cream.  So why not combine the two?  Today I am going to teach you how to make a cookie ice cream bowl.  It is really simple to do.  All you need is your favorite cookie mix, (it doesn't have to be chocolate chip) a cupcake pan, and your favorite ice cream.  First make the cookie dough (i'm not a big baker so I use the pre-made dough) and roll it into circles about 4 inches in diameter.  Take your cupcake pan, turn it upside down and spray the hills with Pam or anything non-stick.  Press the cookie dough circles firmly onto the hills so they look like upside down bowls.  Place in the oven on 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 10-15 minutes, or until cookies look golden brown.  Let the cookie bowls cool then carefuly remove it from the pan.  You now have small cookie bowls!  Add a scoop of ice cream and enjoy!
